What to Look Out for When Buying Polaris Sportsman Touring Wheels

Wheel Size

Most Polaris Sportsman Touring models come with either 12 or 14-inch wheels from the factory while some even come with 15-inch wheels.

12-inch wheels offer improved maneuverability and agility, ideal for navigating tight trails and narrow spaces. They are lighter, which can enhance acceleration and suspension performance.

However, they may have limitations in tackling rough terrains and obstacles, with less ground clearance and a higher likelihood of impacts.

Striking a balance between maneuverability and capability, 14-inch wheels provide increased ground clearance, more tire-type options, and better obstacle clearance compared to 12-inch wheels.

On the other hand, they are indeed more expensive and will affect your performance a lot more.

Lastly, 15-inch wheels offer superior ground clearance, a much higher price tag, and superior obstacle negotiation because they excel in handling rough terrains and rocks while providing an aggressive appearance.

Beadlock Vs Non-Beadlock

Beadlock wheels are immensely popular with off-road vehicles these days because they feature an outer ring that clamps the tire bead securely in place.

This provides added security and prevents the tire from dislodging during aggressive off-road maneuvers, especially when your tires are at reasonably low pressure.

Non-beadlock wheels lack this clamping mechanism but are often lighter and less expensive.

If you are serious about off-roading and want to get the best possible wheel and tire combinations out there, beadlock wheels are likely a better choice.

Conversely, if you don’t care about the very top echelon of off-road hardware, a set of normal non-beadlock Polaris Sportsman Touring wheels will do.

Bolt Pattern and Offset

The bolt pattern must match your Polaris Sportsman Sportsman Touring model to ensure proper fitment and secure attachment of your wheels.

Almost all Polaris Sportsman Touring models use the 4/156 bolt pattern which means that matching the pattern shouldn’t be too difficult.

Additionally, the offset determines the wheel's position relative to the suspension components. Choosing the correct offset is essential to prevent rubbing on the suspension or bodywork.

Therefore, be sure to double-check these two before you decide to spend your money.

Build Materials and Construction

Polaris Sportsman Touring alloy wheels, typically made from aluminum or magnesium alloys are the most popular because they are lightweight and easy to come by.

They also offer a stylish and modern look. On the other hand, steel wheels are known for their exceptional durability and strength, making them ideal for rugged off-road adventures and beadlock applications.

While steel wheels may be heavier, they provide added resistance to impacts and damage which can be beneficial if you are someone who often drives over sharp and blunt obstacles.
